Norilsk, l’étreinte de glace

Return
Norilsk is an impossible place. In this Arctic city, winter lasts for nine months and temperatures reach -50°C. Norilsk Nickel, the first worldwide producer of copper and nickel, has dominated life since the city rose from the ashes of the Soviet gulag. Over 180,000 people exist in this isolated city, closed off from the world. Rooted in an extraordinary everyday existence, the film paints a poetic and comical portrait of an extreme town from which everyone is trying to escape.
